A little more upscale than other Ocracoke eateries. Worth the trip.

Wow! I have been going to Ocracoke for years. Been here before in the past and was basically a place for brunch .They have really kicked it up a couple notches. The setting is elegant. The food was amazing and there is quite a selection of fresh seafood. They definitely take a high standard in what they put on the plate as well as the presentation. I really look forward to going here again next time I am at Ocracoke.

Service was top notch. Food delectible. Seafood flavored and cooked perfectly. A bit pricey, but worth it. Thank you!

If I could give even more stars, I would! This restaurant is worth the 7 hr drive, the 1 hr ferry, and the 20 min walk it took to get there. The Fried Green Tomatoes are to die for, and the Flourless Chocolate Torte is over-the-top spectacular! Every meal is both beautiful and full of flavor. The waitress is attentive, and the folks who clear the table are on it. This is the singularly best thing about the entire OBX...and I'm not exaggerating!

We had the most enjoyable dinner! Food was phenomenal and the atmosphere perfect!

Excellent food and great service!

Excellent. The oysters are to die for. Savory mushroom cheesecake and the bluefish appetizer are the bomb. Bar has excellent cocktails (think gimlets and French 75) Truly a wonderful culinary experience. Liked by locals and tourists alike.

This is the best dining experience to be had on the Island: creative architecture, great bar (check out the bar's counter top) great menu, superb delicate treatment of sauces and cooking of vegetables, good service...so, also, there will be a long wait to get a table. Have another Flying Pims Cup while you wait...

Outstanding food for this place on the island.. service was great!!

Ate there over the summer on our yearly stay in Ocracoke. It was 15 of us and they accommodated us upstairs. Food was great and service was even better. A little pricey, but worth it.

This is the complete casual fine dining experience. The mix drink selection is amazing with a lot of variety. I cannot stress enough that everything on the menu is delightfully delicious. 11 people in my family sat and traded appetizers and entrees, we were all 100% satisfied. We have made it tradition to have a family dinner once a week while on vacation at this exceptional establishment. Cannot wait to come back again next year!

One of the tastiest restaurants I’ve ever been to! The restaurant’s menu is definitely more upscale as it is owned by a chef who’s been working about 50 years, everything we ate was absolutely delicious and the fish quality and freshness was outstanding. We really enjoyed our dinner there and found it to be such a special experience. Our waiter was also very friendly. Highly recommend this special spot!

Great atmosphere, lovely service, and a well thought out main of pecan crusted drum. A finer dining experience and rewarding end to a weekend on the island of Ocracoke.

Wouldn’t take a reservation because they fulled their quota. So we did a walk in with a party of six. Now I know you wait when in a large party but an hour and a half and they still couldn’t tell us how long it would be. They won’t put tables together so we saw many empty tables and we watch people come eat and go. So we went to the Back Porch and walked right in and sat right down and had the greatest of time over there.

Great fine dining on Ocracoke. The pecan encrusted Trigger fish was so good. Very busy so you should definitely make reservations.

Food was absolutely incredible but the drinks were even better. The bartender looked like Blackbeard which really threw me off after my third cocktail. Marshmallow the orange 🈠was great entertainment as we waited to be seated. Service was excellent.

We got there on a recommendation...but a busy time of evening so waited for seating. Everyone was gracious and the food was just what we needed. The bartender was singing about pirate life....good times!!

This place is delicious, and is the best restaurant on Ocracoke, possibly even the OBX! Everything we get is always fantastic and service has been great, too! Highly recommend!

This place used to be great. Now it's incredible! I lament that it is no longer a brunch place, but I love the new style. The menu is mind blowing. Some of the best local fish dishes my family has ever had. The servers and bartenders are great. Best scotch recommendation I've ever had. The Belvini. Love this place.

For a remote town that is still recovering from being decimated by a hurricane in September of '19, the Flying Melon is a welcome surprise. Great entrees including fresh tuna steaks and appetizers including just-harvested oysters, we had a top-notch experience on a Saturday night. Be prepared for a wait on weekend nights and some service issues, as the place is small, but well worth it if you want to eat something good on Ocracoke Island. Considering that much of the island may not be open anytime soon, this place is a small miracle.ooo

Great crab cakes! Service is excellent. Good french bread that tastes like it's homemade (but waiter said no). One of the top restaurants on Ocracoke Island. Menu has a nice range of prices for entrees. Very popular so consider making reservations ahead of time.

Place was very overpriced and the food was room temperature. Wife had the fish platter which wasn't even warm so it was sent back. My filet mignon was very rare (ordered it medium) and the peppercorn sauce was bland which surprised me. That went back also. The appetizer was also under cooked and cold. I know scallops are hard to get right but it seemed like the chef was afraid to overcook stuff so everything was cold and underdone. The food was average to uninteresting but expensive even by island standards. It seems the restaurant was trying for a high end epicurean experience but really ended with pretentious overreach. Bland, common and pricey.

Came to the flying melon on our first visit to Ocracoke and really loved it. Wouldn't stop talking about it for months and couldn't wait to return. After a 5-hour Drive with ferry, we made reservations and came for dinner. Our service was very slow, almost non-existent surprisingly even though they just opened and we got the first seat. Felt very rushed, salad pretty much came the same time as the food. Felt like they couldn't wait to get us out of there. In and out in 35 minutes for a romantic meal was a bit disappointing. Needless to say we went somewhere else for dessert. They have potential but I think they've dropped the ball, they need to be consistent and always go the extra mile. I believe they have some of the best food on the island but they need to hire and pay their staff better. Maybe they would have better service.
